We are incredibly honored to name our Indigenous scholarship on behalf of a graduated student here at Alberta Barber Academy. Lynden Red Gun Master of his trade will be the first Indigenous Licensed Barber in Alberta. We are incredibly proud and honored to have his name carried to help support so many of Canada's indigenous.
As an immigrant owned business we are blessed and honored to be on treaty six land. Our brothers and sisters of the traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux (So-toe), Blackfoot, Métis, Dene (De-nay) and Nakota Sioux (Sue). We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries."
We are humbly grateful for there sacrifices and are in debt for the life we are living today. As a recognized institution the team at Alberta Barber Academy were heart broken to hear of the unmarked graves across this country. Children with dreams and hopes of there own.
Alberta Barber Academy has pledged to offer 15 Indigenous Scholarships a year in Lynden Red Gun's name. This scholarship is for our indigenous family and friends who work tirelessly to defeat the battles of there past and hoping to help pave the path of healing for the future.
To you we are forever grateful, and to you this land will always be YOURS...…
Fadel Rahall's story is a testament to the power of immigration and the opportunities it can provide. As a 30-year veteran of the barber trade, he immigrated to Canada in 1990 from Lebanon with his family in hopes of security and opportunity. Fadel worked tirelessly in the Asbestos mines of BC before trekking his family to Edmonton, Alberta where he opened his very first salon, "Sassoon's Hair." Fadel, along with his five brothers, has created a foundation for the hair industry today, establishing a strong competitive place in the barbering and salon world. Fadel is known for his humor and joy of being around people, and his passion for gardening gave him the joy of feeding everyone.
In an effort to give back and provide new opportunities for newcomers to Canada, We are honored to create a scholarship through the Alberta Barber Academy. This scholarship provides a chance for new immigrants to pursue their dreams and make a change, much like Fadel did. Today, Fadel is a current educator at the Academy, inspiring and training the next generation of barbers.
Fadel Rahall's story is a true example of the Canadian dream, and his dedication to helping others achieve that dream is truly inspiring.
